Volunteering
We welcome parent volunteers at King's, whether helping in the lunch hall, reading with children, or helping supervise educational visits. To safeguard everyone, though, we do require all volunteers to follow our induction procedure.
Induction procedures
Set out below is the school induction programme for parent helpers, student teachers, pre PGCE students, MFL students and work experience students only. If you do not fall into any of these categories you do not need to complete the instructions on this page. Club leaders, peripatetic teachers and other external adults working on a paid basis should click here for the applicable induction programme.
All volunteers must have an Enhanced DBS check for the 'Child Workforce' before taking part in school activities with children. The application is done online - please contact the school office for the link. There is an online identity check service available that references the biometric data in UK passports, or alternatively you can present three original items of identity verification in person in school. The official list of identification documents is here. We also ask that you pay, via Arbor, the £12.50 fee that we are charged by our DBS agent for volunteer applications (£9.50 if electronic ID is not used). When the check is complete the paper certificate will be posted to your home address, and we ask that you bring that in to the office for verification.
If you already subscribe to the DBS Update Service we can use that - please ask at the office for details.
