Clubs

We offer an extensive selection of extracurricular enrichment activities, with a high participation rate. We have a choice of clubs for each year group from Reception to Year 6 - morning, after school and even 3 lunchtime clubs too. 

In the last week of the autumn term, most clubs have finished but some have a final make-up session - see table below.

Please see below the list of clubs for the Spring term, as well as a description for each club.

The attachment at the bottom of the page is a copy of the letter sent to parents; this includes information on the timings, cost and registration location. 

We are pleased to be able to offer the following clubs.  All clubs will run for 9 weeks starting the week commencing Monday 13th January and finishing the week ending Friday 28th March.  Half term is the week commencing Monday 17th February.

Please note that the Inventors lunchtime club will start on the 20th January to 28th March and will run for 8 weeks.

Sports Clubs 

  • Friday Morning Games – Mr Megrah

Build your coordination, fitness and teamplay with a healthy mix of outdoor games on the astro. From traditional playground games such as tag and foursquare, to exciting team games like bench ball, volleyball and dodgeball, we’ll have lots of competitive fun in a friendly and supportive setting. Open to all in Year 4, 5 and Year 6, Mr Megrah will lead the sessions on the Astro every Friday morning.

Our Quest is to provide a pathway through which children of all ages and abilities can develop their basketball and leadership skills, whether participating purely for fun or striving to compete at a higher level.   • Girls’ Football – Ali Lane      

Football is the world's most popular team sport and now the top participation sport for women and girls in England. Join the girls’ football club and learn the tactics and rules of this great game while developing new skills and having fun. Ms Lane is an experienced coach of girls’ football and is part of the football development team at The King’s School.

  • Cricket Club
  • Fencing 

Our fencing classes start with students learning the fencing fundamentals, then progressing to a deeper understanding of the sport tactically, technically and competitively. We start with the basics, including the "en-garde" position, fencing steps, attacking with a lunge and basic parries. As students gain more experience, our classes evolve, with students learning tactics, compound actions and how to compete amongst classmates. Our classes will help students not only become faster, stronger and more explosive, but they will also help students become more tactical and perceptive, as they have to think for themselves by outsmarting their opponents.

  • Gymnastics – Kids Coaching Hive

At our gymnastics club we work with all abilities to improve on balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, and confidence. Children will learn floor, bench, and vault skills with our qualified coaches in a safe and fun environment.
We work alongside the British gymnastics association to progress children on their proficiency awards where they receive certificates and badges for their dedication and hard work.

  • Football – Pleiades

Football is the world's most popular team sport. Join the boys’ football club to learn and develop all the skills needed for great team playing ball control, passing, dribbling, tackling, attacking, and defending. Through training drills and opportunities for game play improve your positioning and tactical awareness, whilst having fun. Mr Adams is an experienced FA qualified coach and is part of the football development team at The King’s School. All levels of players welcome.

  • Tag Rugby

Children will have the opportunity to learn and improve their agility and speed as well as tag rugby skills and techniques such as passing, defending, and finding space. The Tag Rugby Club also gives them a great opportunity to improve their fitness and work as a team. Sessions will be run by Mr Ellimouni & Mr Megrah before school at 8am on Wednesdays on the 3G Astro.

  • Hockey

Whether you are a total beginner or an experienced player, the hockey sessions will provide you with a fun and challenging environment to greatly improve your skills and fitness. 

  • Netball –MS Kareem & Ms Ratcliffe

Netball Yr 5 & 6 will be taken by Ms Ratcliffe and Yr 3 &4 will be run by Ms Kareem. Both groups will learn netball techniques in a fun and safe environment.

  • Football - Mr Megrah
  • Mini Fun Sports – Pleiades Leisure

This club offers a wide range of sports and activities in a stimulating, safe & friendly environment. Boys and girls of all abilities work on improving their agility, balance, and co-ordination.  Emphasis is on fun and enjoyment whilst still promoting fair play and teamwork.  Please note this club will be outside. Children are asked to wear warm clothes. Pleiades will be running the club.

  • Athletics Club

Delivered by Pleiades, the club aims to inspire children of all abilities to fulfil their potential.  Children will develop key movement skills taking part in a variety of athletic running, jumping and throwing events, helping them to achieve their personal best.  

  • Karate Club

"The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants” - Master Gichin Funakoshi 

The club is open to both girls and boys, no skills needed. We aim to teach traditional Shotokan Karate to the students not only focusing on the physical but also the importance of discipline and etiquette. We are an active club that encourages our students to explore competitive karate as well as developing their character through hard training.

Please note children will be expected to purchase uniforms. There is an annual Affiliation Fee of £38 to cover insurance and affiliation to an international Funakoshi Shotokan Karate.   • Pee Wee Karate Club

Non-Sports Clubs 

  • Chess Club

The school chess club is run by Premier Chess Coaching Ltd who, for the past 10 years, have been running many successful chess clubs around London.  Premier Chess Coaching is run by Tomer Eden who is a British chess Master and has helped some of his schools win National Under 11 and under 9 titles.  More about Tomer and Premier Chess Coaching Ltd can be seen here: https://www.premierchesscoaching.com/about-premier-chess-coaching/

During each week of chess club there is:

  • 20 Minute lesson on a professional demonstration board
  • Weekly tournament game with end of term prizes
  • Mini Games for complete beginners

 

  • Drama

Drama is that safe place where even the shyest of children get to gently break the ice, building up, already in the first weeks, their self-esteem and gradually being able to take an active and full part in the sessions. Week by week, children are encouraged to listen to each other's thoughts and ideas, developing their imagination and trust in each other. Each week the children will explore a range of different themes to work on and will be introduced to a variety of real and imaginary situations, deepening their sense of the world around.

  • Singing Club

The Boundless Singing Club focuses on your child’s enjoyment of singing, learning new vocal skills, and improving their own personal ability. Previous experience is not necessary, but the pleasure of singing is. Each term we focus on a few songs, ranging from Musical Theatre to Pop, and Rock to Contemporary. Our main aim is for your child to enjoy each class whilst growing in confidence and talent.

  • Music Theatre

Do you ever dream of performing in front of an audience one day? Are you curious to explore your acting and singing abilities? Through rhythm, dances, games, stories and songs, each week the kids will develop new artistic and staging techniques, learning how to convey a story by using their voice and body, all while having a lot of fun!

  • Artful

Artful Club is run by Karen & Louise who are passionate about all things arty! This club is about having fun and being creative. Learning about famous painters and their different styles, learning different techniques, experimenting with pencils, charcoal, acrylic paint, watercolours, soft pastels and oil pastels whilst improving drawing and painting skills. All equipment is provided for.

  • Crafty Kids Reception, Yr 1 & 2

“Crafty Kids” is back offering loads of fun filled Arts and Crafts activities for the Spring term with Judy and Miranda. We’ll celebrate year of the Snake by making some Chinese Dragon Snakes, sewing felt animals and making Easter decorations, amongst other exciting projects.

Techniques this term will include, sewing, cutting, weaving and collage.

  • Spanish Club

Be it in preparation for a trip to Spain, to be able to impress a Spanish speaker friend or just out of curiosity, come learn the basics of Spanish language through songs, engaging and challenging games and a lot of fun!

Greetings, numbers, colours, days of the week, seasons, special celebration days (like mother and father day), family members, food...y mucho mas (and much more)!

  • Club Bonjour Français

Club Bonjour Français is a fun, interactive and progressive language course for children. At our welcoming club we encourage your child to learn French in the most natural way, with stimulating games, drama, a wide variety of fun and lively songs, traditional rhymes and creative activities. Our experienced club leaders are native French speakers and trained linguists, and the children will soon acquire a love for the language and will be singing and beginning to converse in French with an authentic accent. We play team games as well as interactive games online, and the children have plenty of opportunity to speak whilst taking part in role-play activities. We cover new topics every term, as well as practising greetings, numbers, colours and classroom instructions through a variety of interactive games and action songs. We occasionally have a French food tasting or simple cookery activity.

  • Boundless Dance & Cheerleading

The Boundless Cheerleading Club includes warm-up games, team building exercises and motivational chants and movements. Our club will motivate your child to move, have fun, be social and creative. Each term we work on a creative piece. If your child loves to move then why not sign them up to learn new skills in a fun and relaxed setting.  

The Boundless Dance Club is delivered in a relaxed setting where individuality and creativity comes to life. We pride ourselves on offering a very personable and friendly class to all abilities; where previous experience is irrelevant, but a love to move and groove is. Our main aim is to increase your child's motor-skills, confidence, performance skills, social ability and to stand as an individual, as well as work well in a team.

  • Code Camp Coding & Digital Club

We will be working on more advanced games with new coding challenges and principles that we've not covered before. We have made Code Camp World as accessible as possible, meaning that children can focus on the fun aspects of coding whilst developing problem-solving and creativity skills.

For the younger children in Years 1&2, the children will be progressing on to Code Camp World next term and creating their own games from the ground up!! The children will be using what they've learnt throughout the year and putting it into practise.  If this is your child's first term with Code Camp, don't worry, we'll provide all the support they need!  Loads of fun and very creative.

  • Embroidery Club

Embroidery club will run after school on Wednesday.  from 3:30-4:30pm for children who are in years 2 to 6. This fun creative club will consist of learning the basic embroidery stitches ranging from straight stitch to French knots. Additionally, the children will be aiming to create final pieces by the end of each term or for special occasions. This club will be a calming environment for your child after a busy school day where they can be creative and learn a new skill.

  • Animatez Club

This term, we have an exciting course called Artistic Attack! We will be diving into the world of digital art on the computers together. Each session will be filled with fun and guided activities. We'll also have special edutainment time, where you can freely explore new programs on the computer. It's like having your own adventure in the digital world!

This course is perfect for all students. We can't wait to see all the awesome things you'll create and discover together! Get ready for a creative and exciting journey in the world of computers!

  • MTech

M:Tech is an extracurricular music technology and creative composition course for children aged 7-13.

They teach the fundamentals of music composition theory, with young learners composing soundtracks to fun and engaging multimedia projects like movie trailers and TV adverts.

Explore the world of musical masterpieces and transform them into your own modern hit!

Turn sweeping strings into sizzling synthesizers and bold brass into booming basslines as we enter...

Project Remix!

After completing a term of lessons, learners will have created and completed their own unique piece of music to add to their growing M:Tech music portfolio. This is sent home and certificates are awarded to mark their improvement and course progress.

Participation on the M:Tech course also now includes access to the new ‘MyMTech’ home platform, where learners can develop their ideas, skills and create music at home.

  • Lego Club

Our clubs give children a safe environment in which to design and create builds, using LEGO bricks. Our designed challenges use LEGO bricks to develop children’s knowledge and skills through play!

Building with LEGO bricks encourages the development of many skills:

• Understanding of concepts such as size, shape, order and pattern

  • Touch Typing

In Touch Typing club with Miss Carter, children will use the TypingClub.com website to develop their speed and accuracy when using keyboards, through a range of exercises. The children will work through a progressive set of activities and games to learn the layout of the keyboard and build their fluency when using all 10 fingers. Logins and devices will all be provided.

  • Invention Club

Invention Club is back for the Autumn Term with fun things to make from Spinning Tops to Message in a Box, this is a fun club at lunchtimes.

  • Glee Club

With an exciting mix of musical theatre and pop, singing and dancing, drama and movement, Glee Club gives children the opportunity to sing, dance and act in a fun, friendly and welcoming environment. Based around fortnightly themes, children will work together to perform songs from stage and screen whilst building their confidence and performance.

  • Harry Potter Club

Harry Potter club will be an inclusive, fun club where we have a weekly theme or topic that we discuss and explore through hands-on games and crafts. You will be able to share your current Harry Potter knowledge and gain a new deeper understanding of one of the most beloved book series of all time. From potion and wand making to quizzes and themed hunts, Harry Potter club will be a fun, engaging time for all. 

  • The King’s Shakers & Bakers

We’ve decided to steer away from just the ‘usual’ cupcake decorating & pizza making and offer kids a range of more useful recipes, techniques, and tastes. Of course, a cupcake here and there never goes amiss, but we endeavour to eradicate fussy eaters and enter kids into a delicious foodie world!

Each class, children will cook in pairs or as teams and will whip up their very own tasty dish to take home and eat. We will begin the classes with a short demonstration displaying what will be cooked during the class, followed by hands-on cooking for the children to put their newly found culinary skills to the test.

Guidance and support will be offered throughout but we will ensure all kids get their hands dirty – after all, what better way is there to learn?  Ingredients will be supplied by the school; all we ask is your child brings a container each week to take home their cooking.

  • Creative Mindfulness - Scrapbooking

Our mindfulness scrapbooking club will include introduction to various mindfulness methods & activities, encouraging calming activities such as finger knitting, clay pottery & making fidget toys. Starting off each session with calming music & a breathing exercise, to create a zen atmosphere. Additionally, each child will receive a personalised scrapbook that they complete each week with a topic e.g. gratitude. As well their very own digital camera which allows children to document their life through their lens. Such as ‘take an image of something you are grateful for’. It also introduces children to the concept of photography. Children will be able to use these photos to add to their scrapbook, encouraging a positive journaling habit. 

  • Film Club – Ms Huggins 

Welcome to the Film Club!

Our Film Club is a fun and exciting space where we’ll explore the world of film through a variety of engaging and educational activities. We’ll watch films together, review them, and discuss the stories, characters, and filmmaking techniques.

In addition, as we progress through the classes there will be Filmmaking Fun—hands-on activities that help develop both creative and practical skills.
