In January Queen’s sent an athletics team to St Mary’s University to take part in the 2016 Sportshall Athletics Tournament.  The team of 9 boys and 9 girls from Year 6 were selected through trials at school, followed by intensive coaching and training sessions.

The events are tailored to replicate normal track and field events but in an indoor space.  The events take all day and are fiercely fought and supported by the teams (you cannot possibly imagine the noise that 150 children can generate in a confined space even if it is a state of the art sports hall!).

The Queen’s team did exceptionally well to finish exactly half way in the final results table.  We had our minimum team of 18 children and were competing against larger teams and of course larger schools.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and were a credit to the school as ever.
